The North of England
This gallery features landscape and wildlife images from recent trips to The North (of England); including the Lake District (Cumbria) and Northumberland. It is a picturesque and scenic part of Britain.
The Lake District is England's largest National Park. Alongside the spectacular scenery, I love the place-names - which sound like they were lifted from Tolkien's Lord of the RIngs (as is some of the scenery) with pikes, tarns, crags and Wainwrights aplenty. The Wainwrights are the fell tops, named in tribute to Alfred Wainwright who so loved the landscape and hand-drawing maps of the region and its walks.
Northumberland is best known for its rugged coastal scenery, Hadrian's Wall, and Northumberland National Park.
A peaceful, rural and photogenic region, with wildlife alongside the sheep and cows that dot the landscape.
