Copulation: the common toad
Mating common toads, Bufo bufo. I wanted a worm's eye view of this pair of copulating amphibians and hunkered down low before them to get the image. I like the lurking presence of the male (as he clasps the female by the waist) in the background. He was not releasing his grip.
