The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958)

Ray Harryhausen's first colour movie, The 7th Voyage of SInbad, featured a mythical bird, the Roc. Indeed, the film includes a giant egg of the bird. The legend of the Roc is thought to have derived from real giant birds, in particular the now-extinct elephant birds (Aepyornis) of Madagascar. Humans are thought to have caused the extinction of these giant birds.
