Ripples: Tufted Duck
Abstract half-profile portrait image of Tufted Duck (Aythya fuligula), in the wintery waters of Linlithgow Loch. I shot this from directly above the bird. This was possible thanks to the limited open water available to the birds on the otherwise frozen loch. Appropriate to the weather, this abstract image freezes the action with an emphasis on this moment in time as evidenced by the bright eye, the water droplets on the bird's plumage, and the ripples on the loch water.
