Snow crow
I was attracted by the simplicity and contrast of the lone black carrion crow (Corvus corone) silhouetted against the white of the snow in the fields. This perspective emphasises the small scale of the dark corvid against the brightness of the expansive snowy landscape. This abstract image was a runner-up in the Wild Wonders of Europe November 2011 Photographic Competition.
