The ruin of Old Castle Lachlan, taken from the beach on the south side of Lachlan Bay, Loch Fynne. Nature is slowly overwhelming the building but it still stands proudly overlooking the Loch. The castle likely dates from the late 13th Century. Referred to in a charter of 1314, the castle was home to the Clan MacLachlan. Chief Lachlan MacLachlan was killed at the Battle of Culloden in 1746 (supporting Bonnie Prince Charlie), but the line lived on, and today the chiefs inhabit a nearby more modern castle.
