The black-backed jackal (Canis mesomelas) is much maligned and heavily persecuted by livestock and game farmers because it predates upon newborn stock. However, it is practically un-exterminable; as cunning as the fox it; lives a principally nocturnal and cryptic lifestyle. Remote camera trap image, black and white.
