Caledonian forest. Historically part of The Great Wood of Caledon. The light, like the weather, was changeable as I moved down Glen Affric and Loch Beinn a' Mheadhain. One moment the sky was dark, the next bright. One moment there was hail stones, or heavy rain, the next the landscape was bathed in warm sunshine. This image was taken during a sunny snap; the light highlighting the colours of the forest. Scots pine, birch and larch bring a patchwork of green and purple hues alongside the brilliant blue of the Loch. As I left Glen Affric that afternoon, I left a snowstorm that was rapidly coating the landscape in white. Hard to believe looking at this image!
