Face-to-face with a Madagascar ground boa (Malagasy ground boa, Acrantophis madagascariensis). I hunkered down and slid toward to this snake with my face literally in the leaf litter. This shot was taken only centimetres from the business end of the boa. Close-up, macro, eyes. Now I know what a mouse sees just before... This image gained a runner-up award in the Terre Sauvage Nature Images Awards 2012 (Other Wildlife category).
