African Wildcat, Felis silvestris cafra, at night, camera trap

Remote camera trap photo of an African Wildcat (Felis silvestris cafra). This is an extremely rare and elusive wild cat and I was overjoyed to capture this image. Felis silvestris is the ancestor of the domestic cat (Felis silvestris catus) and unfortunately (as for the Scottish Wildcat, Felis silvestris scotica) the greatest threat to all wildcat populations is hybridisation with their domestic relatives. Black and white.
